Colleges in Boise
Rated as being one of USA’s best places to live, Boise also has a very good environment for education and career. Boise is home to a number of universities and colleges, each with a vast population of international as well as local students. From bachelors’ degrees to post-graduate courses, engineering, business management, and other subjects related to technology the colleges in the city all provide modern equipments and facilities as well as the best infrastructure.
For graduate courses the Boise State University is the most prestigious. Founded as the Boise Junior College in 1932 by the Episcopal Church, the Boise State University has over 18, 800, students and is located along the south bank of the Boise River. In the field of technology ITT technical institute is the most sought after. A leading private college it has six different schools each with a particular stream of engineering for example School of Information Technology, School of Drafting and Design, School of Electronics Technology, School of Business, School of Criminal Justice, and School of Health Sciences. The college offers morning, day, and evening classes.
This apart Boise is also home to the Bible College, which offers undergraduate degree courses to train leaders for churches as well as missionaries. Located in Garden City, its graduates mainly join the churches in western United States. The Bible College is affiliated to the Churches of Christ and Christian Churches which are part of the Restoration Movement.
For those willing to take up non-academic vocations there are many renowned colleges here. For example Academy of Professional Careers, Apollo College, Bcri Career Training, Continental College Of Beauty And Barber Styling, Idaho School of Massage Therapy, Stevens-Henager College and many more.
Other prominent universities like the University of Idaho, the Idaho State University each has their satellite campuses in Boise. Both these universities are premier research institutions of the country with courses in varied streams including law, agribusiness, zoology, pharmacy, performing and visual arts and education.
However Boise is the only city in the US which does not have community colleges. This matter has been taken up by the local authorities and a community college special district was formed and very soon community colleges will become operational in the city.
For those staying around Boise, there is the George Fox University in Oregon known for its courses in liberal arts and sciences, the University of Phoenix in nearby Meridian, which offers courses in graduate, post-graduate and doctoral levels as well as the Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa and College of Idaho in Caldwell.
